INAERO and PT Rekayasa Atmosphere Indonesia (RAI) are developing a Ground-Based Generator (GBG) for cloud seeding with DUMAKRON. The company dates this development activity to 17 October 2026.
Ground-based cloud seeding
The system is planned for use across Indonesia to support water availability in hydropower reservoirs. This development complements INAERO’s support for drone-based weather modification operations.
Hygroscopic powder without burning flares
According to INAERO’s design description, the GBG disperses DUMAKRON powder without burning flares. Eliminating flare combustion avoids that heat source and the risk of burning flare material falling from the system.
PT RAI describes DUMAKRON as hygroscopic salt with 2–5 micrometre particles. Research by Rosenfeld and colleagues supports the potential of fine salt powder to influence rain formation; it is not a specific test of this GBG product. Field performance still requires evaluation under the relevant cloud and atmospheric conditions.
