Salt-based materials
Hygroscopic materials interact with moisture. Particle characteristics are important when selecting materials and assessing cloud conditions.
Discuss your operation ↗INAERO / WEATHER MODIFICATION
Documentation of weather modification operations (OMC) and an introduction to cloud seeding. Platform requirements, seeding materials, and operations should be discussed with a team that understands atmospheric conditions.

Watch the OMC footage shared by INAERO. The video shows field activities; assessing seeding results requires meteorological data and a separate evaluation.
KNOWLEDGE / SEEDING MATERIALS
Hygroscopic seeding introduces particles into the liquid phase of clouds to encourage collisions and merging of water droplets. It aims to support rainfall formation in suitable clouds.
Hygroscopic materials interact with moisture. Particle characteristics are important when selecting materials and assessing cloud conditions.
DUMAKRON is a seeding material developed by PT Rekayasa Atmosphere Indonesia, supplied as a powder with particle sizes of 2–5 microns for hygroscopic seeding. BRIN researchers have studied DUMAKRON's efficiency for weather modification in several international journals.
The response to seeding depends on cloud characteristics and atmospheric conditions. Results from one operation cannot be directly applied to a different environment.
APPROACH / COORDINATION
Weather modification operations (OMC) are conducted in cooperation with BMKG. Satellite data and meteorological analysis help predict cloud locations and movement, allowing the team to plan seeding areas and timing according to atmospheric conditions.
Evaluate equipment and payload integration requirements against the operational plan and the characteristics of the selected material.
Document operations and observations to support evaluation by the relevant teams.
